Why I am a teacher?

I knew I wanted to be a teacher on my first day of kindergarten. My sweet teacher, Ms. Shiroma, had a desk full of really cool stickers and stamps. Right then and there, I decided that one day I wanted to run the show in a kindergarten classroom so that I could be in charge of those materials.

My kindergarten class- Can you guess which one I am?
Fast forward a few years, and I'll be honest... I still want to be in charge of stickers and stamps. But I also want to be a positive influence in a child's life. I want to be the person that tells them "Yes, you can!" even when no one else does. I want to be the person that encourages them to keep trying and not to give up. I want to be the person that challenges them to ask questions and never stop looking for answers.

A quick read-aloud with my field-based kindergarten class!
I love to learn, and I enjoying sharing that love that with others. Seeing the look on a child's face when he or she learns something for the first time, or the sheer joy in his or her eyes when a concept is finally mastered makes me happier than red velvet cake on a rainy day!
